Pierre went looking for his favourite eating spots in the Luberon for us - from Bonnieux to Lourmarin. Discover the best and lesser-kept secrets of the region.

In Bonnieux

L’Arôme

L’Arôme, in the heart of Bonnieux, resolutely goes for the better work. And because quality is a rare commodity, the restaurant limits itself to 25 covers. The menus not only bear witness to the craftsmanship of this family business, but also to refinement and a touch of tradition.

Le Fournil

The team at Le Fournil with its unique terrace can look back on 25 years of experience in a breathtaking setting. Inside, guests are seated in a troglodyte, outside in paradise. The dishes are light, simple and always surprising. A must for the real Provence feeling.

La Bergerie

Under renovation. Open again in 2024

A few years ago, two-star chef Edouard Loubet opened his own bistro, La Bergerie, across the street. Not only is it open all year round, the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Cooking itself takes place in the restautant, which adds to the atmosphere ... and a little smoke. The pizza à la truffe is a little masterpiece, but the rest of the menu is not to be sneezed at either.

In L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgues

Le Jardin du quai

In a park near the little train station, Daniel Hébet of Le Jardin du quaihas been at the cooker for 25 years. He serves just one menu, usually with fish as the main ingredient. Underneath the apparent simplicity lies a varied palette of flavours. Most guests eat outside as the place enjoys a unique atmosphere. For romantics, and others, it's a gem.

La Petite Maison

La Petite Maison has for many years been Pierre's personal favourite. Eric Sapet is not just anybody: he has had a Michelin star for years, is generous, friendly and welcoming. His cuisine is emphatically classic but has gained in lightness over the years. In a setting where old-fashioned conviviality prevails, the place for an unforgettable moment.

La Closerie

Olivier and Delphine have quickly turned La Closerie into a top-notch address that has had a Michelin star for several years. They only work with fresh, and therefore seasonal products, which means that there is no menu to be found on the net. Don't worry: you can book blindly ... if there is still a place available. In spite of the quality offered, the offer is of a simplicity that inspires confidence.

In Goult

La Bartavelle

La Bartavelle is a hidden gem in a backstreet in Goult. Emmanuel Champion brings a refreshing, Southern kitchen with a lot of local products. He uses the description of a carte bistronomique, although we think that is an underestimation. The friendliness and generosity of Sylvie, the lady of the house, reinforces the image of a small but nice address.

Le 5

For some years now, Le 5 has been a hit, best enjoyed on the longest days of the year when the immense terrace offers a surprising panoramic view until late at night. The cuisine is quite classic and extensive, the service an example for many. The seven-hour cooked beef cheek ('joue de boeuf') remains a must, as does the risotto and lobster…

La Louche à beurre

La Louche à beurre is the place to be for excellent steaks with chips and garlic salad in a particularly cosy interior or on the covered terrace. In season, the coeur de boeuf tomatoes with goat's cheese are unsurpassed. Manager Babeth, who has been running the place for over twenty years, is generous, tactful and exceptionally friendly. A hit for those who love simplicity and cordiality.
